Economic boost for area
Go-ahead for £80m Nicklaus golf course
FM Group’s Ury Estate development, near Stonehaven, intends building a “world class” course, together with a clubhouse, hotel and 90 luxury homes.
The housing development will cover the £14million capital costs of designing and constructing the course
The plan won the support of Aberdeenshire Council even though the Woodland Trust Scotland said the loss of several hectares of woodland, and hundreds of trees, would be one of the largest it had recorded. The Forestry Commission also raised concerns.
But an independent report concluded that the golf course and housing development will inject £55.5 million into the economy over a 15-year period and create 200 jobs.
