Peter Vardy secures permission
Car Store for former Valentine’s site in Dundee
Peter Vardy is to build a car dealership on the site of the former Valentine’s card factory in Dundee.
The council hopes that development of the 8.5 acre brownfield site on the Kingsway will encourage other businesses to help regenerate a site that has been derelict for more than 20 years.
The car showroom will include electric car charging points, a new cycleway and footpath.
Chief executive Peter Vardy said: “The site is close to one of the major routes through Dundee, and was carefully selected to be easily accessible for Tayside, and the whole of the East of Scotland.”
The plans are yet to be finalised, but the proposed site will be close to 65,000 square feet similar in style to the Braehead showroom near Glasgow, which opened in 2014. In the first year of trading, that CarStore sold more than 3,500 vehicles, and more than 4,000 in the second.
The Peter Vardy Group operates Vauxhall dealerships in Aberdeen, Perth, Kirkcaldy, Edinburgh, Motherwell and Dalgety Bay and five dealerships selling Jaguar, Land Rover, Porsche, BMW and Mini.
