CBRE adds Rose to rates team ‘at critical time’

Mike RoseProperty consultancy CBRE has appointed Mike Rose as an associate director in the rating and taxation department.

Mr Rose joins the team after a 25 year stint as a partner in the professional services & rating team at Rapleys and two years as a consultant in Scotland and England.

In addition to his experience in the retail sector, which included clients such as Tesco and Morrisons, he has a detailed knowledge of specialist markets including the fast food, motor trade and road side sectors.

Based in the Glasgow office, he will work alongside Brian Rogan, head of the rating and taxation team in CBRE Scotland.

Mr Rogan said:  “Mike’s appointment enables us to add further depth to our existing expertise in business rates advice and allows us to grow our offering and client list.  It is great that we’ve managed to secure someone with his wealth of experience; having worked on behalf of some of the largest corporate ratepayer clients in the UK.

“This strategic appointment comes at what is a critical time for business ratepayers; it is only a year to go before the next business rates revaluation and high profile changes to the unoccupied rates relief system are due to come into force on 1 April.”

Mr Rose added:  “Following a couple of years as a consultant, I am delighted to be working with CBRE.”

CBRE has also appointed Angela Lowe as senior director in the national agency and development team.  She joined from Cushman and Wakefield and is based in the firm’s Edinburgh office.

Miller Mathieson, managing director of CBRE Scotland, said:  “Angela’s appointment is a very significant hire for us.  She brings a wealth of experience within the Edinburgh market and has enabled us to strengthen the firm’s presence in the market.

“These tactical appointments into the Scottish business are in line with our objective of securing key individuals who bring skills and experience to expand our client offer in significant business growth areas.”
