Wilson oversees council contract for Commsworld
Ms Wilson is among 16 appointments, six of them female, at the telecoms and digital services provider.
Ms Wilson, who was previously at Capita, brings more than 20 years experience across varying roles within the IT industry, said: “The culture within Commsworld has been a breath of fresh air – and it is so pleasing to move to a company where everyone is prepared to do whatever is needed to make it succeed.”
Speaking about the industry gender imbalance, she said: “The sector has been male dominated for s long but there is no reason for that to be the case. It is a matter of diversity – a range of backgrounds is absolutely essential in any industry to instil a broader range of thinking.”
Commsworld has enjoyed a successful past twelve months – with staff growing from 47 to 63 – thanks to its partnership with CityFibre to deliver the ultra-fast Edinburgh CORE network, as well as its contract win with CGI, where it became a key provider in the £186m City of Edinburgh Council ICT contract.
Ricky Nicol, chief executive, said: “Last year’s growth of the business was hard earned but very pleasing nonetheless.
“There have been some important additions to the team – and we are particularly pleased to secure the appointment of Jen to lead the major work with the council.”
