United scores at Hampden with water savings
The 52,000-seater stadium appointed the firm as its preferred water supplier in November 2014, in one of the most high-profile transfers since the introduction of competition to the Scottish non-domestic water market in April 2008.
United installed automated meter reading (AMR) devices to help Scotland’s home of football track its water use against occupancy and identify any anomalies and spikes.
The loggers, which automatically collect data every 15 minutes, showed that urinals operated by automatic flushing were using water at the same frequency for 50,000 people as 200. The AMR devices also identified a leak in the pitch water irrigation system, which was adding to the ground’s water bill.
