Range to be stocked across Scotland

Mum’s recipe serves up Tesco soup deal

David SwordBrothers David and Douglas Sword have secured a £250,000 contract from Tesco for a range of soups based on their mother’s recipe.

Their Scottish Soup Company, based in Cumbernauld, will now supply five new chilled soups to 64 stores across Scotland.

Tesco buyer for Scotland, Kev Parker said: “We are proud to champion Scottish food and drink across our stores.”

The listing comes at a time that the fresh soup category continues to increase. In recent years the market has grown 8.6% in value terms and 14.8% in volume terms, to an overall UK-wide value of £123.9 million in take-home retail sales.

The Scottish Soup Company soups are produced by William Sword, the Cumbernauld-based food business established in 1894.
