PR account for Glasgow agency

Spreng & Co lands account for pitching event

Callum SprengOne of Scotland’s biggest investment pitching events has handed its PR account to Spreng & Co.

Spreng & Co is associated with Liddell Thomson and is based in Glasgow.

Lesley Thomson, a director at Liddell Thomson and Spreng & Co, said:  “We’re delighted to be working with Converge Challenge and look forward to joining the team.

“Converge Challenge has a great track record for identifying and backing people with innovative new products and services with the potential to become profitable and sustainable businesses, we believe that 2016 is going to be a terrific year for everyone involved.”

Converge Challenge brings together individuals from academia, research and business and has a £100,000 prize fund and training package available for the winners in three categories.

The PR account has been managed by Kevin Dorrian’s Acumen in Edinburgh but the organisers decided to put it out to a competitive tender.

The Converge Challenge programme is funded by eight Scottish universities and the Scottish Funding Council. It gives students and staff the chance to exploit the commercial potential of their ideas.

Applications are considered from any industry sector, and for any product or service-based project at any stage of its development. The next programme launches in February.

Among last year’s winners were Richard Walker of Photon Force who picked up the £60,000 first prize in the Converge Challenge Award, and Rebecca Pick whose bra-strap personal alarm caught widespread attention after Daily Business revealed the project.
