Murray sees off big serving Aussie Groth

Andy Murray Davis CupBig-serving Australian Sam Groth proved no competition for British number one Andy Murray who eased into the next round of the Open in three sets completed in just 90 minutes.

The Scot was in cruise control to sweep aside the home fans’ hopeful  6-0 6-4 6-1.

Groth, ranked 67, has the fastest serve ever recorded at 163mph, but Murray broke him in his first four service games and will face Portugal’s Joao Sousa for the third time in four years in the last 32.

There was further success for British players as Johanna Konta, who knocked out Venus Williams, beat China’s Zheng Saisai 6-2 6-3 to reach the third round.
