Expansion for Inverclyde company
McGills acquires Coatbridge bus firm
The deal includes JJ Travel and all 14 staff will be offered continued employment within McGill’s. It will take over the operation of McNairn’s four commercial routes.
Ralph Roberts, managing director, said: “The acquisition, our first in Lanarkshire since the opening of our Blantyre depot in March 2015, fits well with planned growth targets for our company’s development in Lanarkshire and beyond.”
McGill’s employs 1,000 and operates 400 buses across 110 routes. It has depots in Barrhead, Blantyre, Greenock, Inchinnan and Johnstone.
Owned by Sandy and James Easdale, it reported a 4.2% increase in turnover in its latest set of published accounts and is now placed at position 350 in Scotland’s business elite.
