King formally cleared over contempt claim
Rangers chairman Dave King has been formally cleared of committing a contempt of court over allegations from Sports Direct majority shareholder Mike Ashley that he breached a confidentiality agreement.
Mr Ashley, a Rangers shareholder and owner of Newcastle United, failed in December to persuade High Court judge Mr Justice Peter Smith that Mr King should be jailed over the issue.
The claim of contempt was based on a media interview which Mr King gave to Sky Sports revealing the existence of a meeting and discussions related to contracts between Sports Direct and Rangers.
But Mr King stated that he had no recollection of whether or not he said the words.
