Connell takes jam role as R&W Scott expands
Jam producer, R&W Scott, has appointed Ian Connell as operations director, as it confirms plans for further expansion of its Lanarkshire plant.
Mr Connell will be based at the firm’s Carluke site and will oversee the running and management of the 80 strong staff operation. With almost 40 years’ experience in the food industry Mr Connell has worked with household names such as Greggs, Hovis and Warburton’s.
He said: “R&W Scott has recently invested in new jam, pie-filling and fruit preparations equipment and reconfiguring the factory to include a new production hall. I am looking forward to playing my part in helping to grow the business and expand into new product areas.”
John Easton, managing director of R&W Scott, said: “Ian will play a significant role as we make major plans to invest further this year. Due to the growing business needs commercially, R&W Scott has made seven appointments across sales, marketing, development, customer service, technical and finance in the past few months.”
R&W Scott, which can trace its roots back to 1880, is best known for its jams but also makes chocolate coatings, spreads and sauces.
Mr Easton continued: “Our plant at Carluke has moved from being a production factory into its own business, and we have plans to expand even further. We started with jam production and soon expanded into sweet sauces and spreads and now with the launch of our pie fillings last year for wholesale and foodservice customers, we are excited about expanding further into other industrial sectors.”
R&W Scott is part of Real Good Food, which is a diversified food business, serving a number of market sectors including retail, manufacturing, wholesale, foodservice and export. The company manufactures a wide range of baking ingredients, jams and sweet bakery products.
