Series winner announced
Plumber is named Lord Sugar’s new Apprentice
Joseph Valente was tonight hired by Lord Sugar as winner of the latest series of the BBC’s The Apprentice. He will receive a £250,000 cash injection for his business plan.
The 25-year-old will set up a nationwide plumbing business after proving to the tycoon that with his money he “will go far”.
He beat New York born Vana Koutsomitis who wanted to set up a new style online dating agency.
Announcing his winner, Lord Sugar said technology had been his best friend for 50 years “but may be it is time to make new friends.”
Peterborough-based Valente said: “Since the day I was expelled from school I knew I was going to do something big with my life.”
The series began with 18 contestants battling it out over 12 weeks.
A number of complaints were registered when the Radio Times fell foul of scheduling its social media message – and announcing the result ahead of the live broadcast.
A tweet was sent to coincide with the result, but the Sports Personality of the Year broadcast overan by five minutes, meaning the winner of The Apprentice, which followed, was prematurely revealed.
