Public Affairs Awards
Orbit takes prize for mental health campaign
Edinburgh-based PR and public affairs agency, Orbit Communications, was a winner at an awards ceremony in London last night.
The firm won the award for the Best Campaign in Scotland at the Public Affairs Awards, held at the Park Plaza.
Its campaign delivered an additional £100 million for child and adolescent mental health services in Scotland.
Working with the Scottish Children’s Services Coalition, Orbit implemented an integrated PR and public affairs campaign to build a groundswell of support among politicians, other organisations and the general public to deliver additional funding.
Orbit brought about the successful delivery of the funding by highlighting the plight of those children and young people with mental health conditions and the fact that mental health is treated as a poor relation in comparison with physical health.
Orbit managing director Alex Orr (pictured) said: “The campaign for the Scottish Children’s Services Coalition was a textbook example of how effective PR and public affairs can change opinions and deliver a project with huge benefits for those with mental health conditions and Scotland as a whole.”
