More jobs as Barrhead Travel expands

Sharon MunroBarrhead Travel is to create 100 jobs across Scotland as it embarks on further expansion of its portfolio of outlets.

The country’s largest independent travel group is investing i£200,000 in extra staff after opening stores at in Hanover Street, Edinburgh, as well as the airport, St Enoch Square in Glasgow and Newcastle’s intu Eldon Square Shopping Centre during the past 12 months. Further openings are planned.

The company has reported rising customer demand across the its portfolio. Long-haul business has risen 22% this year, with Florida and Dubai proving popular destinations. Foreign currency has also experienced a 33% rise in revenue and cruise business for 2016 is already up 17%.

To support the recent growth, Barrhead Travel is looking to bring a range of skills and expertise into the business, including those with sales, marketing, customer service, accounts and administrative experience.

Sharon Munro (pictured), chief executive, said:  “We are embarking on an exciting period of growth which is being driven by increased customer demand across all areas of the business.”
