Surgeries for female entrepreneurs
Sharing the love of starting up a business
After joining the increasing number of Scottish female entrepreneurs setting up on their own, Rebecca Christensen, founder of gift voucher company Love from Indie Street, is on a mission to share her knowledge with other women planning to become their own boss.
Ms Christensen will be holding an inaugural ‘Women in Small Business Surgery’ at Just G Boutique in Edinburgh this Saturday as part of her online company’s involvement in Small Business Saturday.
She said: “Whether your dream is to open a coffee shop or a property company, many of the necessary principles of setting up a business are the same, including everything from the initial stages of research and planning to delivering and selling, and importantly building a strong, supportive network around you.
“The surgeries will be a great opportunity for me to share the highs and lows of my journey so far and provide information, guidance and advice on everything from choosing a web developer to creating a brand, carrying out marketing activity, social media and how to connect with customers.
“Having done it myself after a decade in the financial industry, I think it is important to support other women who have a dream of being in charge of their own destiny and hopefully help them to get out there and give it a shot.”
