Optical chain to invest in technology

Past and future celebrated at Black & Lizars

Black and LizarsOpticians chain Black & Lizars invited customers to help celebrate its 185th birthday as it embarks on the next phase of the firm’s development.

Geraldine Wood, managing director since April, said the company would be investing in technology, including an app that would enable customers of the 25-branch chain to inspect their optical records and check appointments.

Ms Wood said the company would strive to be at the forefront of technological change. Black & Lizars was the first opticians chain in Scotland to install the eye testing equipment  developed by Dunfermline-based healthcare company Optos.

“Today is about celebrating our heritage but also about looking to  the future,” she said.
