Reunion at Motherwell

McGhee back at Fir Park for second spell

Mark McGhee was back at Motherwell where he was confirmed as manager for his second spell in charge of the Fir Park club.

McGhee, assistant to Scotland boss Gordon Strachan, was in the hot set at the Lanarkshire club between 2007 and 2009 when he left to take over at Aberdeen where he had been a player.

At Motherwell he replaces Ian Baraclough, who was sacked last month following the League Cup defeat to Morton.

It is understood 58-year-old McGhee was the unanimous choice of the Motherwell board and that he has a contract until May 2017.

He is said to have been asked to stay on in his national role should Strachan renew his contract with the SFA.

The former Scotland striker, who had a spell at Newcastle United, also managed Brighton, Bristol Rovers, Leicester City, Millwall and Reading.

Dundee United have played down speculation that former His manager Mixu Paatelainen is to take over from Jackie McNamara. No announcement is due today.
