Eighties soul band head to capital
Hucknall ready to paint castle red for Edinburgh gig
Simply Red will be perform at Edinburgh Castle next summer, six years after their last date at the venue.
The band, which had a number of hits in the 1980s, head to the capital on 14 July as part of a world tour with tickets going on sale on Friday.
Singer Mick Hucknall (pictured) will be bringing old band mates together for what will be a nostalgic performance of hits from the past 30 years, including Holding Back the Years and Stars.
Barry Wright, director of Castle Concerts, said: “Anyone who attended their sold-out concert back there in 2010 will know that we are in for a sensational evening.”
Edinburgh Castle has been the setting for a number of performances by top stars including Rod Stewart, Blondie, Elton John, The Proclaimers, Leonard Cohen and Sir Tom Jones.
