Whoops, that’s the wrong pub owner
Many beer drinkers will have noticed their regular ales are no longer available. That’s because Greene King has acquired a swathe of Scottish pubs, adding to those it already owned, and strengthening its link with Dunbar-based Belhaven brewery which supplies its outlets north of the border.
It seems, however, that some have failed to spot the switch. One such tavern, the Cafe Royal, in Edinburgh, featured in an article in The Scotsman about Punch Taverns.
“Have you seen that you’re in the paper today?” the barman was told. Sad to say he was not too impressed. The Cafe Royal is now part of Greene King. To make matters worse it was never owned by Punch Taverns.
Looks like The Scotsman guys are in need of a drink.
