Scottish law firm Anderson Strathern has announced four new partners and 12 internal solicitor promotions.  The promotions and appointments follow a series of lateral hires from competitor firms throughout the year and a raft of client wins.

Overall, the partner appointments reflect the growth across the firm’s commercial, public sector  and private client practices: Andrew Brown (Employment), Anne Chapman (Land Resources), John Peutherer (Private Client) and Martin Whiteford (Corporate).  The recent lateral hires included Paul Brown (Employment), Douglas McLachlan (Corporate) and Anne Henderson (Private Client) all from DWF and Mark Cowie (Corporate) from McLure Naismith.

The growth has been generated by significant client wins in 2015 including appointment to all six lots of the recent Central Government Legal Services Framework. The firm has also secured work from local authorities, public bodies and a number of businesses.

This has led to promotion for seven solicitors in its dispute resolution department: Gary Burton, David Coutts, Kiera Dargie, Michael Higgins, Seonaid Sandham, Dominic Scullion and Jennifer Wilkie.

Also promoted are Robin Beattie in land resources, Elizabeth Hore in commercial real estate, Bruce Harvie in corporate, Susan Waudby in private client and Angela McMahon in Anderson Strathern Asset Management/Private Client.

As announced last week, dispute resolution partner Jonathan Guy has been appointed head of the expanded insurance and health & safety unit.

Managing partner Murray McCall said: “It has been a fantastic year for Anderson Strathern with client wins, legal awards, lateral hires and promotions.  I am really delighted to see so many of our talented colleagues being promoted this year. They span a wide variety of specialisms within the Anderson Strathern Group. This not only showcases the full service nature of our client offering but the significant investment we are making in all our people.”
