Facebook aims to bring SMEs and customers closer
The company claims that a million businesses are joining the site every month and it has decided to take steps to improve the experience for buyers and sellers, particularly via mobile phones.
New features include calls to action such as “message me” and the option for business owners to reply to customers with a private message. It has also introduced a function where messages to common inquiries can be created and sent automatically.
New sections showcase the products and services businesses sell.
The changes follow discussions the company has been having with small business owners on how they use the site and how it could be improved.
The announcements are the latest in Facebook’s courtship of small businesses. Facebook says 45 million SMEs now use the site.
The updates are the biggest for its business pages since 2012 when introduced Timelines.
