Big break for Scots creatives
Exclusive: RBS invites Scots agencies to create new campaign
Royal Bank of Scotland has invited Scottish advertising agencies to pitch for a multi-million pound contract for the first time in several years.
The bank is believed to have asked four agencies – including Leith and Union – to tender for what an Edinburgh agency source said will be the biggest account this year.
It will be the first time RBS has used a Scottish advertising agency for some years.
RBS uses M&C Saatchi in London for its national campaigns, but is understood to be keen to re-engage with Scottish agencies who will be able to add a Scottish angle to a new campaign.
The bank is keen to build its relationship with customers and wants to confirm its Scottish roots.
M&C Saatchi and digital ad agency Play (50% owned by M&C Saatchi) created the Make it Happen campaign which focused on the four themes of clarity, resourcefulness, ingenuity and creativity.
Hi
This has given me mixed feelings! Surely RBS has cut back on marketing and I hope they will not just award this contract to one agency. Boom and Bust should be a thing of the past! If they are going ahead then wouldn’t it be great if the contract was split between a number of agencies. Maybe some smaller businesses could be contacted and given a chance … Come on RBS ‘Spread It Around’
