Eight food outlets for East Kilbride’s new shopping quarter

East Kilbride shoppingOrion Capital Managers has secured eight food outlets for East Kilbride Shopping Centre’s new leisure quarter. The latest tenancies mean the facility is now 80% let.

Restaurant chains Frankie & Benny’s, Chiquito, Bella Italia, Homemade Burger, Filling Station, Nando’s, Cook&Indi and Pizza Express have taken units.

Spaces range from 3,500 sq ft to 5,000 sq ft. Pure Gym opened an 11,010 sq ft fitness centre earlier this year.

The leisure quarter at East Kilbride (pictured – click to enlarge) is under construction and due to open in September next year. Set over two levels the development is anchored by an Odeon cinema and an ice rink.

East Kilbride Shopping centre, Scotland’s largest covered shopping centre, totals 1.4 million sq ft and has an annual footfall of 15.5 million. The scheme is anchored by Debenhams, Topshop, Zara, French Connection, Next and Primark.

Orion was advised by Savills. Carlene Hughes, associate director in Savills leisure team, said: “This new leisure quarter at East Kilbride has created excellent space for strong national brands to be able complement the retail offer at the centre.

“It is a testament to the strength of the scheme that it’s now 80% let and we expect to continue to receive significant interest for the remaining units.”
