Granite city restaurants sign up

Deliveroo extends delivery service to Aberdeen

DeliverooDeliveroo, the on-demand delivery service for restaurant meals, today launches in Aberdeen, adding to its operations in Edinburgh and Glasgow.

Launched in 2013 by William Shu and Greg Orlowski, the company signs up top quality restaurants to deliver meals off their menus to customers in their own homes.

In Aberdeen the company has done deals with a number of restaurants, including Handmade Burger Co, ASK Italian, Carluccio’s, Zizzi, Zumo Juice Bar, Oryza Sushi, Piccolo Restaurant, Cupcakes by Jo, Ambal’s Restaurant and Yangtze River.

This latest expansion will create jobs for 100 drivers in Aberdeen over the next year and bring significant increased revenues to partner restaurants. Those in Edinburgh and Glasgow have reported an increase of up to 30% in revenues.

Deliveroo has already seen impressive growth in the UK. Its loyal customer base has doubled since January, with the service adding more than 150 restaurants since launch in Scotland alone.

Regional manager Caroline Hazlehurst said: “This Scottish expansion marks our plan to become the best food delivery company in Scotland. We’ve quickly established an enthusiastic base of repeat customers in our two Scottish cities of operation, Edinburgh and Glasgow, and we intend to and look forward to doing the same in Aberdeen.”
