Andy ‘proud’ of brother Jamie’s final appearance
Jamie Murray and his Australian partner John Peers are through to the US Open doubles final, their second successive Grand Slam final after losing at Wimbledon in July.
Murray and Peers saved a match point in New York to beat Americans Steve Johnson and Sam Querrey 6-4 6-7 (2-7) 7-6 (9-7). The eighth seeds will play French pair Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Nicolas Mahut, who beat Inglot and Robert Lindstedt 7-5 6-2.
“My nerves are shot but we’re so happy to win and get to the final,” said Murray.
Jamie’s brother Andy, who was knocked out of the singles tournament by Kevin Anderson, tweeted that he was proud of his older sibling.
