Food Festival serves up a treat for city

Edinburgh Food FestivalThe Edinburgh Food Festival will add another tasty treat to the city’s celebrations this summer by showcasing some of Scotland’s natural larder.

This inagural event is taking place in in Assembly’s George Square Gardens until 2 August and is supported by EventScotland, VisitScotland and Scotland Food & Drink as part of the Year of Food and Drink Scotland 2015.

Sharon Burgess, managing director of Assembly Festival Ltd said: “We are so excited to be working with some of Scotland’s finest producers and most celebrated businesses.

“We pride ourselves on the quality of our offering and this is a great way to spotlight how the industry is evolving. To support this, industry professionals are hosting talks and debates and a special programme of entertainment is on offer. What better place to host a food festival than Edinburgh.”

As well as the varied food offering, festival-goers can enjoy free talks and debates in the Spiegeltent. A ticketed programme of entertainment is on offer including Edinburgh-based comedian and broadcaster Hardeep Singh Kohli, cutting edge cabaret show Le Haggis, award winning Scottish fiddler, composer and producer Aidan O’Rourke and the all female four piece folk band, The Poozies.

The food talks and debates are free but booking is required. More information on the festival can be found at www.edfoodfest.com. To keep up to date with the latest news follow @EdFoodFest on Twitter.
