Scheme provides more Grade A space

Financial district plan backed by Glasgow council

Atlantic Square, GlasgowA corner site just off Glasgow city centre is to be turned into offices, retail and flats after councillors granted planning permission for the 265,000 sq ft Atlantic Square development.

BAM Properties, part of BAM Construct UK, and Glasgow-based Taylor Clark Properties are behind the scheme offf Argyle St which forms part of the city’s International Financial Services District (IFSD).

It will comprise three buildings including the retained façade of an A-listed warehouse. The end value has been put at more than £100 million.

Mark Broderick, development director with BAM Properties in Scotland, said: “There is no doubt that there is an appetite in the city for Grade A office development and despite significant investment recently, demand is still greater than supply so we’re confident Atlantic Square will be an attractive offering for potential occupiers.

“The development will extend and connect the IFSD area between Argyle Street, which will feature a gateway entrance arising from Building 3, to the river front on the Broomielaw and provide a new pedestrian link between York Street and James Watt Street.”
