Weightmans hires McIlroy from MacRoberts

Elaine McIlroyLaw firm Weightmans has added another partner to its growing Scottish business, strengthening its employment service north of the border.

Elaine McIlroy is an employment and business immigration specialist and joins the firm from MacRoberts. She spent 12 years at Dundas & Wilson, including five years with the firm in London.  She is dual qualified in Scotland, England & Wales.

Stuart McFarlane, partner and head of the commercial team at Weightmans LLP in Glasgow said: “As with previous hires, Elaine’s appointment has been driven by demand from our clients.  Employment is an increasing requirement from our client base for specialist advice in Scotland made this a strategic growth area for us.

“Elaine comes to Weightmans with an impressive track record, and specialist knowledge of business immigration – a complex and rapidly changing area of law – and so we look forward to working with her to grow the business further.”

Weightmans recently announced record turnover of £89.2 million for the 2014/2015 financial year, an increase of £2.2m on the previous year’s £87m.  The growth has come about due to high level performances from a various parts of the business over the year, all supported by excellent operational delivery.

The firm relocated its Glasgow office to James Sellars House at 144 George Street in the spring.  In the last year, the Weightmans team in Scotland has doubled in size, with new partners and team members joining to focus on key commercial real estate and insurance specialisms.
