Contract for software firm

Serendipity picks up a winner at Cartmel

Nanete AitkenAyrshire software company Serendipity EMS has won a contract to supply Cartmel Racecourse with a pioneering ticketing system.

The Lake District course offers seven days of racing a year, including the popular two-day ‘barbecue’ fixture in July when The Cumbria Crystal Cup, its most valuable race, is staged.

Nanette Aitken, founder of Serendipity, said: “It is a mix of a local festival, a sporting event and an annual pilgrimage for racing enthusiasts. Large crowds descend on the centre of the racecourse for picnics and parties and our software will help Cartmel organise, automate and synchronise its sales, marketing, customer service and technical requirements.”

Cartmel is a member of the Holker Group, formed from a diverse group of companies, including Burlington Stone and its quarries, housing developments, caravan parks and vast estates, including Holker Hall.
