City building on smart city ambitions
Glasgow tech hub wins Australian firm’s first overseas investment
The development by Encompass Corporation, which provides information management technology to the insolvency and restructuring sector, will create 21 jobs in the city’s financial district.
The investment is being supported by Scottish Enterprise through a regional selective assistance grant worth up to £357,000.
The company says it marks the start of a planned expansion across the UK and other international markets, including the United States. In line with this, Encompass is relocating members of its senior management team to the new Glasgow office.
The move helps establish Glasgow’s as a technology hub after it won a £24 million Future Cities grant from the UK government’s technology strategy board in 2012.
It is spending this funding in prototype technology projects and to develop its vision to be among the world’s foremost smart cities.
