STV Claire tweets she’s going off air

Claire StewartSTV presenter and political correspondent Claire Stewart announced tonight she was leaving the station, and appears to be heading for a job with the police.

Stewart, who has been a regular host of Scotland Tonight and other programming, revealed her departure through the social media network Twitter.

“So lovely twitter world the time has come for me to leave STV for new pastures. Thanks for all the indyref and GE2015 fun. Its been a blast,” she said.

Numerous well-wishers contacted her and several asked about her next move. One tweet featured the Twitter symbol wearing a police helmet which she greeted with the message “love this!”

She joined STV North (formerly Grampian) in 2004 as an Aberdeen-based reporter and bulletin presenter and moved to the Edinburgh newsroom in 2011.

Colin Mackay of Radio Clyde will take over as Holyrood editor.
