Law firms Lindsays and RSB macdonald unveil merger

LindsaysTwo Scottish law firms have unveiled a merger. RSB macdonald, which has offices in Dundee, will be merging with Lindsays which operates in Dundee, Edinburgh, Glasgow and North Berwick.

The merged firm, which will be known as RSB Lindsays in Tayside, will continue to operate in Dundee from offices in the city centre and west end. It will have 38 partners.

Alasdair Cummings, managing partner at Lindsays, said: “We are delighted with the merger. It is a perfect fit, as both firms share the same core values, our personal approach and focus on delivering an excellent service to clients.

“RSB macdonald is a well-established firm with an excellent reputation, in particular in residential property, family law and the services it offers to individuals and families. The addition of their clients and people will further strengthen our own teams and allow us to continue growing our business in this region.

“I believe that the historical synergy is also fitting given that Lindsays celebrates its 200th anniversary this year and is merging with another long-standing firm that can trace it roots back to the 1880’s.”

Derek Duncan, partner at RSB macdonald, said: “This is an extremely exciting time for us. We believe the merger will bring further benefits to our clients through access to additional areas of expertise such as employment law, licensing, and corporate and commercial advice for businesses throughout Tayside.”

Lesley Macdonald, Partner at RSB macdonald added: “Our firms have long-standing connections and a very similar approach to business. We are looking forward to working with our new colleagues.”

The five partners from RSB macdonald will be joining the merged firm as partners. The merger is effective from 6 July.
