Veuve Clicquot Businesswoman of the Year
From zero to hero, Garrett-Cox is top woman
Just when you thought she may struggle to hang to her job…. Katherine Garrett-Cox has not only fought off the boo-boys, she’s been named businesswoman of the year.
The chief executive of Dundee-based Alliance Trust, who just last month faced demands to step down amid accusations of running an under-performing business, tonight picked up the top prize in the annual Veuve Clicquot awards held at Claridges in London.
Winning, however, can be a mixed blessing. Last year’s winner Harriet Green later stepped down from running Thomas Cook.
Ms Garrett-Cox has another opportunity to avenge her critics next month as she is also shortlisted for this year’s EY Scottish entrepreneur of the year, to be announced on 25 June.
