Hamilton invests in insulation company

Boyle’s private equity firm takes 4% stake in Superglass

John BoyleScottish entrepreneur John Boyle has invested about £250,000 through his Hamilton Portfolio to buy a 4.15% stake in Stirling-based insulation firm Superglass.

Hamilton has acquired 6.35 million shares in the company which is quoted the Alternative Investment Market (AIM). The shares are currently about 4p to buy.

Hamilton managing director, Andrew Lapping,  said: “We are delighted to be making a strong commitment to the future of Superglass.

“Over generations, it has been an outstanding Scottish manufacturing business employing more than 150 people, including grandfathers, fathers and sons from the same local families in Stirling.

“Like many businesses, it has faced severe challenges in recent years but that does not eclipse its rich manufacturing history and well considered strategy for future growth.

“It has a new, very impressive management team which has recently invested more than  £5 million in capital expenditure.

“The company enjoys great support in Scotland, including the Scottish Government, and we believe that a company of this calibre is currently grossly undervalued by market sentiment. We firmly believe there will be very strong demand in the future for Superglass products given the expected surge in house building and commercial property development and we look forward to supporting the company as it progresses.”

The Hamilton Portfolio is a private equity and investment firm established by Mr Boyle and Andrew Lapping.

Hamilton has significant private equity interests across a range of business sectors and operates specialist commercial property investment funds through Hamilton Capital Partners.
