Aberdeen International; East Mains, West Lothian

Commercial propertyAberdeen: Turner & Townsend, the global programme management and construction consultancy, has delivered the first phase of the Aberdeen International Business Park (AIBP) development.

Work on the 335,000 sq ft development included project management, cost and construction design management. The project has achieved a BREEAM 2011 ‘Excellent’ Rating, along with an EPC ‘A’ Rating – the highest specification of any office in Aberdeen.

The park has attracted the headquarters for oil gas services company Aker Solutions and includes catering, a gym and sports hall, two squash courts, a nursery, medical facility and retail unit. The site is expected to be the base for 2,400 employees and has parking for 1,200 vehicles.

Turner & Townsend was appointed to the project by Abstract Securities, the developer behind the St. Vincent Plaza office development in Glasgow which is due to be completed this summer and for which the consultancy is providing project and commercial management services.

West Lothian: Premier Hydroponics, a hydroponics retailer, has opened a new warehouse at East Mains Industrial Estate, taking advantage of the additional space on offer and leaving just one unit vacant at the estate.

JLL acted on behalf of landlord Gatehill Property to secure the three year lease on a 3,915 sq ft mid-terraced unit at a rental rate of £4.50 per sq ft.

East Mains will serve customers across Scotland and allow the firm to stock a wider range of products as it expands.

Geoff Ferguson, graduate surveyor, industrial and logistics for JLL, said: “As supply of accommodation tightens, there is a marked increase in demand for units situated in well-connected locations out with city centres.”
