Kennedy to lead growth at distance learner ICS

Colin KennedyDistance learning provider ICS Learn has appointed Colin Kennedy as chief executive to lead its global growth strategy in an international market currently worth $6bn (£4bn).

Kennedy joins Glasgow-based ICS Learn from Thomson Reuters where he led two business units, one in the UK and one in the USA. Prior to this he held leadership positions in a number of UK businesses.

He said: “The distance learning sector is growing in the UK and globally. In a bid to maximise the growth opportunity within this market we are committed to expanding our digital content and have committed to investing in core technology platforms.”

The company will be expanding into international consumer markets such as the Middle East and possibly the Baltic region.

ICS Learn has a turnover of £5.5m and delivers more than 100 courses spanning GCSEs and A-Levels to advanced qualifications in a variety of sectors including human resources, accounts, teaching, health and construction. It has 60 employees in Glasgow.
