Indies win hearts of Rebecca’s Valentine promotion

RebeccaBoutique businesses attracted an enthusiastic clientele tonight at a Valentine’s promotion at one of Edinburgh’s latest shopping venues.

Organised by Rebecca Christensen of online gift-buying service Lovefromindiestreet, the event at Brotique in Queen Street drew attention to a sample of the city’s independent retailers.

“I’m delighted at the turnout, it’s great to see so much interest in the fantastic range of products that are on sale in Edinburgh’s small retailers,” said Rebecca.

The event was hosted by Richard Murphy whose Brotique men’s store recently moved from Stockbridge and, he says, is designed as a mini department store.

It is tiny by department store standards, but it is clear what he means. Although fitted out for the event with a number of Rebecca’s customers, it normally displays men’s accessories and toiletries in what is a growing market.

Beer was provided by Edinburgh brewer Innis & Gunn, while those exhibiting included the Edinburgh Casting Studio, based in nearby Hill Street, which is creating a new fashion in sculpting body parts.
