Former USC staff take legal action against Ashley firm

Staff at the former USC fashion chain depot in Ayrshire are taking legal action against the company, owned by Mike Ashley.

They claim that they were given just 15 minutes notice about losing their jobs in Dundonald when the chain was put into administration last month.

It was bought a few days later by Republic, another of Mr Ashley’s firms. The collapse of USC affected 79 permanent staff and 166 agency or zero-hour contract workers.

Mr Ashley now faces claims that the legal 90-day consultation period was not undertaken.  Thompsons Solicitors have agreed to represent workers.
