Taylor sells top Scots hotels to Starwood

BlythswoodHotelier Peter Taylor has sold two of Scotland’s luxury hotels in an undisclosed deal with US Starwood Capital Group.

Starwood will add the five-star Blythswood Square hotel in Glasgow, formerly the RAC Club, and four-star, Bonham in Edinburgh to an expanding Scottish portfolio.

Taylor’s Town House Collection was founded in 1989 and he admitted the deal and timing were right for him to move on to new challenges.

The two hotels employ 270 staff and had a turnover of £12 million.

Starwood already owns the George and Roxburghe hotels in Edinburgh and the Grand Central in Glasgow and its now owns or leases 53 UK hotels.
