Edinburgh firm to handle range of legal work

DLA Piper wins Heineken deal in first for brewing giant

HeinekenDLA Piper’s Edinburgh office has been hired as the sole provider of external legal work for brewing giant Heineken UK which is normally served by a panel of law firms.

The three year contract will see DLA Piper acting for Heineken UK across the full range of legal work in the UK, including property, litigation, intellectual property, corporate and employment law. Heineken UK also based in Edinburgh following its acquisition of Scottish & Newcastle in 2008.

The relationship will be managed from DLA Piper’s Edinburgh office by John McKinlay, a partner in the intellectual property and technology practice, and Hazel Moffat, partner in the firm’s litigation and regulatory team.

Although DLA Piper will carry out most of the work, licensing work will remain with Flint Bishop, while recoveries  will stay with TLT.  The services provided by these firms will be managed by DLA Piper.
