A fond farewell from Jason by Royal decree

Duchess of CambridgeThere was a get-together of former RBS media officers over dinner in Edinburgh to mark the departure of their ex-boss, Jason Knauf who is leaving to join the Royal Household.

Knauf (pronounced Ker-norf), is the young American who was appointed RBS director of corporate affairs only in May, having previously been the bank’s head of media relations.

Based in London, there was some disappointment that the 30-year-old did not connect more with Scotland, but he was at the centre of some of the big issues the bank faced with the Treasury.

Now he’s off to spend time with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge (pictured), as well as Prince Harry, to whom he will be communications secretary. He is expected to be in his new job in time to manage the media arrangements outside St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington when the Duchess has her second child, due in April.

Knauf, who has also worked as an adviser to the former New Zealand prime minister Helen Clark, was dining at the Raeburn in Stockbridge, Edinburgh, to say farewell to former colleagues Andrew Wilson and David Gaffney, now at Charlotte Street Partners.
