Wetherspoon to create 15,000 pub jobs

Tim MartinPub chain J D Wetherspoon is investing £400 million opening 200 more outlets and creating 15,000 jobs, it said today.

The company operates 931 pubs and has 34,000 employees and the new roles will be mainly in bar and kitchen staff. It did not say how many, if any, will be part-time.

The new outlets include a controversial move into Edinburgh’s Victoria Street in the heart of the old town.

Chairman Tim Martin said: “We are looking forward to opening the new pubs, many of which will be in areas where Wetherspoon is not yet represented.

“We are proud to be creating so many new jobs.”
