Symbiosis hires in US to support growth
STIRLING-based contract manufacturing business Symbiosis Pharmaceutical Services has responded to a surge in funding for biotech firms in the US by appointing a business development manager based on the east coast.
Derek Richards will oversee its business development activities in the region and the company intends to hire a senior executive for the west coast in the New Year.
It says there is a “more positive investor climate in the US” and it believes it will be creating jobs next year. Symbiosis operates from a purpose-built facility at the Stirling University Innovation Park.
Colin MacKay, chief executive, said: “Our investment in the US market over the next few months is very much a measure of our commitment to meet the growing demand of companies that require a contract partner like us to help get their products to clinical trials in absolute compliance with regulatory standards and in the most time-efficient manner possible.
“Although we are growing on a geographic scale, we remain firmly rooted to our headquarters in Stirling. Our investments and expansion have created many jobs to date and we hope this continues next year.”
An experienced commercial executive, Richards has worked across the pharmaceutical sector for around 20 years and brings an impressive track record in the sterile manufacturing and clinical development sector to his new role.
