Gilson appointed to 5th editorship
Gilson, who joins after five years at The Belfast Telegraph, will move to the south coast in the New Year.
The job takes him back to familiar part of the country. He was editor of the Portsmouth News for six years before moving to Edinburgh for just over two years until resigning in 2009.
The Argus will be his fifth editorship (he also edited the Peterborough Telegraph), but he will face the familiar problem of declining sales.
During the first six months of this year, the Argus’s average daily sale fell to 14,370, down 13.6% on the same period in 2013.
