Gibson’s no-show at pensions event
There may be something important going on at Holyrood today, but MSP Kenneth Gibson’s absence from a key pensions conference just across the road did not go down well.
The convener of the parliament’s finance committee was due to speak at the National Association of Pension Funds Scottish event at Dynamic Earth but sent his apologies for not being able to make it. Nor could he find anyone to stand in for him.
Conference chairman Graham Vidler sounded not too pleased when he told delegates of the “late change to the programme”, particularly as the event had been billed with the theme “managing change in a year of uncertainty”. Delegates wanted to hear Gibson address them about the “implications for pension schemes and how they should prepare.
Vidler was clearly unhappy about Gibson’s withdrawal. He told the conference: “I am disappointed about this and I am sure you are too.”
