Wagamama joins restaurants in Edinburgh square
Wagamama has been added to the restaurants moving in to a new development in St Andrew Square, Edinburgh.
The chain joins Iberica, which agreed a lease earlier this year, and both plan to open next summer.
Dishoom and Drake & Morgan, have recently opened their first restaurants outside London in the development which is owned by Standard Life Investments. SLI will be occupying the 110,000 sq ft of office space.
Drake & Morgan has launched The Refinery while Dishoom has created a Bombay-style café.
David Stewart, Fund Manager of the Standard Life Investments Pooled Pension Property Fund said: “London restaurants have a growing appetite for Edinburgh city centre, and these openings demonstrate the strong appeal of St Andrew Square for restaurant brands looking to enter Scotland for the first time.”
Ralph Jones, managing director of Peveril Securities, the developer, said: “The fact that such high profile national restaurant chains are choosing St Andrew Square for their central Edinburgh sites demonstrates the quality of both the location and the development.”
Work started on the 185,000 sq ft St Andrew Square development in 2014, replacing long-derlict offices.
The main works completed last month with fit out works ongoing through to the summer. It includes a number of apartments.
