From casual to Editor
Muir caps 29-year wait with top Sun role
Alan Muir has been appointed editor at The Scottish Sun following a period as acting editor after Gordon Smart took up a new role with the paper in London.
It has been a long climb up the ladder for Mr Muir who joined The Scottish Sun in 1987 as a casual reporter.
Over the past 29 years he has worked as sub-editor, investigative reporter, news editor and deputy editor at the paper, initially at the Kinning Park plant on Glasgow’s southbank.
Mr Smart was appointed deputy editor of the UK title in May.
