Scotland’s digital award entries up by half
The awards, now in their sixth year, celebrate the talent and ideas abundant in Scotland’s world-class digital technologies industry.
- This year the awards received a record number of entries – a 50% increase on 2015 – reflecting the health of the sector.
- There are 15 categories, including three new awards
- The awards ceremony takes place on 20 April, Old Fruitmarket, Glasgow

“The diversity, scale and sheer innovation of the companies on the shortlist is impressive and demonstrates the opportunities which are available for those interested in a career in the sector.”
There are fifteen gongs up for grabs this year with several new categories making their debut including: CEO of the Year, Education Provider / Training Programme and the Data Lab sponsored Transformational Innovation Through Data award.
Iomart and Skyscanner will go head to head for the Large Digital Tech Business award whilst Administrate, Calnex, and Edge Testing are shortlisted for the Midsized Business category. Adimo, Escrivo, and Mallzee vie for the Small Digital Tech Business gong. Start-ups are also celebrated in the Emerging Digital Tech Business of the Year category with the nominees being Cofficient, Indigo Technologies, and Senshi Digital.

Scotland’s digital technologies industry contributes £5 billion in GVA to the economy and some 84,000 people are employed in the sector with start–up incubators such as Rookie Oven in Glasgow and CodeBase in Edinburgh enjoying huge success and growth. According to KPMG’s Tech Monitor, the number of tech sector enterprises in Scotland grew 43.4 per cent between 2010 and 2015, second only to London (54.6%).
